Shady Pines Camp area will be closed December 8 - 18, 2014. The park will be conducting necessary prescribed burns that includes Shady Pines Camping area and areas surrounding Shady Pines. Shady Pines camp area will reopen once the prescribed burn is complete and the area is made safe for campers. Shady Pines camping area will be affected for some time after the burn. Those planning to camp in Shady Pines camping area after the burn should expect to see and smell burnt vegetation.

Reduce the potential for damaging wildfires.
Improve the quality of habitats for wildlife.
Control the presence of harmful non-native species of plants and Recycle nutrients.

Site

This site is designed to meet the accessibility needs of persons with disabilities. If you do not require this type of campsite, please consider reserving an alternate campsite which is suitable for your camping equipment.

Summer often brings a variety of biting insects, high temperatures and humidity, jellyfish and stingrays and the possibility of hurricanes and flooding. In winter, we may experience a couple of weeks of night-time freezing temperatures. Winter is good sailing and kite-flying weather. Please do not fly kites around power lines. <50 yards to the bathhouse. The playground is 1.5 miles from all campsites 1-119. Please do not tie or hang anything on vegetation- Clothespoles are provided.
