Spring Fever? Go Outside to Play

A picnic table sits high on the hill over Little Lake Johnson at Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park.

Have you been cooped up through the winter? Are you itching to take your family somewhere for sunshine, physical activity and good family fun? Pack up the tent, camper or RV and head to a Florida state park for a weekend (or a whole week) of family fun.

Most state parks offer picnicking, hiking, bicycling, fishing and a wide array of special features. If you visit Myakka River State Park in Sarasota, there`s the canopy walk through the treetops and the airboat tour on the lake. If you select Mike Roess Gold Head Branch State Park east of Gainesville, you get miles of hiking trails and fabulous birdwatching. Select Florida Caverns State Park in the panhandle, and you'll find cave tours and canoeing on the Chipola River.

All are outside and help cure your spring fever.
